“The world can hand you your accomplishments – or you can fight for them yourself, knowing in the end you earned them.”
Meet Mud Floppers
This team of 13 conquered The Battlegrounds together for this first time this past May. We spoke with Zachariah, team captain of Mud Floppers, on the team’s journey and experience.
What 3 words would you use to describe your team?
Persevering. Collaborative. Selfless.
What is the goal behind your team and how did it start?
The goal behind our team was simply to not give up and finish our first mud run. It started when I transitioned from the Armed Forces, to being a civilian. I wanted to be part of a “team” again – and this was the closest thing I found.
What is the biggest obstacle you’ve overcome in your life and did your team play any role in helping you overcome it?
The biggest obstacle I face is myself. It is the one key to succeeding or failing – I could either allow myself to succeed or fail. Our team assisted everyone by working together to complete our first of many mud races.
What does life’s better when battled mean to your team?
Life’s better when battled to me means either the world can hand you your accomplishments – or you can fight for them yourself, knowing in the end you earned them.
What is your team’s favorite Battlegrounds obstacle?
Mud Bath Brigade!
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
Our team had an amazing time at our first mud race. We are looking at expanding into additional races, and we will definitely be back next year to battle again. #LifesBetterWhenBattled
